Let's make a Harken Quilt together!
Quilting can be a lonely effort. Sometimes you want to share it with friends who also love to cut up fabric and sew it back together. Let's be that for each other. The Harken Quilt Pattern is my latest beginner and beyond pattern and I'd love to sew my next one right along with all of you! Will you join me?
The Harken Quilt is a beginner friendly pattern that is super fun and offers loads of versatility to any and all levels of quilter. It's my take on a traditional Irish Chain quilt, like the ones I watched my late Grandma and her friends make when I was a little girl. I love how it blends tradition with very clean lines and a straightforward approach. You can read more about this pattern in my recent blog posts, here and here.
How This QAL Will Work:
In this 8/9 week QAL, I'll be offering weekly blog posts about each step in making the Harken Quilt. These posts will be full of tips, encouragement and support for the planning of your quilt all the way through to the final stitch on your binding!
You'll create either the Scrappy or Classic version of the Harken Quilt in the 67" x 67" lap size (shown in the feature image). I'll be here to support you in weekly steps that make the process fun and engaging! I'll be over on Instagram/Facebook to answer questions, offer tips and support and just generally cheer you on, sewing right along with you each week. We'll share our process, our successes and maybe some frustrations along the way - hey, it happens. I am SO excited to see all the beautiful quilts we all create!
If you haven't already, head to the link below and get your copy of the pattern. Then head to the other link and "officially" sign up to receive the Official QAL posts. It's really not all that official- Ha, ha.

More to come on that.
Still not sure? How about some mock ups to help inspire? Also, follow the hashtag #harkenquilt for samples and more inspiration.
Here are a few Classic Versions. The Classic version can be done SO many ways and is so straight forward. Just choose two (or three) colors and make identical blocks. It's very simple and makes a dramatic and clean finish. Whether you go high contrast or monochromatic, or somewhere in between, you'll see this version is full of beautiful possibility.
And here are a few Scrappy Versions. The Scrappy Versions work great with fat quarters, fat eighths, or a variety of your best scraps. I love the freedom and playfulness this version offers.
