Here is my first Beginner Block tutorial. The Sawtooth Star is a classic. The one I've shown here is a variation (there are many), called Joining Star. Designed by Nancy Page in 1934 and published in the St Louis Star-Times. I chose this version to highlight because I love the way it looks, but also because, my Grandma, the one who inspired my love of quilting lived near St Louis at the time. I imagine she may have been inspired by this very series.
If you'd like more information on this and other traditional blocks, you can find it HERE.

I just love traditional quilt blocks. They are such a great way to get started as a new quilter or to hone some specific quilt skills. I also love the opportunity to play with color and/or print especially when I get to utilize some of my favorite stash fabric.
