Road Trip Redux Quilt with Willow Fabric Line by Sharon Holland

Planning a New Modern Quilt- Road Trip Redux

Do you like to use the same quilt pattern for multiple quilts?  I sure do.  It's one of the great things about a quilt pattern.  You purchase (or in my case, write) it once, and you have endless opportunities for new quilts for years to come.

For me, the time has come to create a new Road Trip Redux!  This pattern has a special place in my collection and on my creative journey.  It was just my second pattern, after the Road Trip Quilt Pattern, and the first one where I dove into the world of Adobe Illustrator to attempt to create some more refined graphics and diagrams.  I also worked closely with a great team of  pattern testers for the first time.  This helped me so much to create a rock solid pattern. I have been so pleasantly surprised and thrilled with how much good feedback I've received over the years from quilters who have enjoyed the pattern.

As we all know, there is a lot to be said for the positive feedback loop.  Having this positive experience with this first "legit" quilt pattern I wrote, made me so excited to try another.  Ten quilt patterns later, here I am, ready to circle back to this nearly first one.

It was really the beginning of my path into writing quilt patterns, and having had very little idea what I was doing, I was so grateful to my testers and the amazing and supportive Instagram community that cheered me on during the making of my very first Road Trip Redux Quilt.

It's been almost three years since I began that first one and I've made 3 or 4 more in that time.  But it's been a while, and I love this quilt so much, so why not start another? I have some quilt gifts to consider after all and this one offers me two great size options to choose from.

If you've been following along with me for some time, you know my love of solids is strong.  So for this round, I'm considering trying something a little different and sprinkling in some gorgeous prints.  There are just so many beautiful and lively prints out there and right now I'm loving all the Art Gallery Fabric lines by their talented designers.  Have you seen the newest and soon to be released lines? Ugh, how does one choose?!

Anyway, I decided to put together a few mock ups to share.  Any favorites in the bunch? Check out my sampling of mostly print versions first, followed by the all solids versions.  I have a feeling I'll be making more than one more!

First Up- The Print Version Quilts

modern quilt with purple and gold, lavender floral

Next Up- The Solids Quilts Shine Too

As you can see, I'm kind of a fan of the peach and coral color family!

So, even though, mock ups like these aren't quite as fun as the real thing, they are great for allowing me (and you) to visualize the possibilities.  Of course these here are just a small handful of what's possible.  I hope it's given you some color inspiration for any upcoming projects and maybe even for your own Road Trip Redux Quilt!
