The Brightwood Mini Quilt Pattern- A Little Sister Pattern
The Brightwood Quilt Pattern is Getting a Little Sister
I love the Brightwood Quilt pattern and design so much that I also designed a mini version! This little mini version of the original Brightwood quilt block is just so cute and versatile.
I considered including this block size and all its options with the original pattern but realized that the size of the block lends itself to not only a quilt, but also loads of other handmade items. It really is extensive and filled with potential for a variety of projects. It really needed to be a stand alone quilt pattern. Not to mention, including it made the original pattern way too overwhelming and confusing. After many discussions with my Brightwood Quilt pattern tester team, I came to the realization that I would just write a little sister quilt pattern and release it at a later date. This date is still TBD, but I'll definitely keep you posted.
So I'm back in the studio, reworking some of the math and playing with some ideas. But as I begin to write up this fun little quilt pattern, I'd love to know from you all, what you might like to have included in a pattern with a 10" block!
I love that the block is small and can be made larger by adding borders. Also, by sewing them together in different arrays, you can achieve a wide variety of shapes and outcomes. Some of the ideas I was thinking of were tote bags, table runners, dog beds, or throw pillows. Feel free to share your ideas and suggestions in the comments below or send a quick email to let me know what you'd like to see!
On a quick personal note, my family and I will be roadtripping this weekend through holiday traffic and a record heat wave to get to my nieces wedding! I'm so excited to get the label on this little Drishti Quilt finished in time to gift it to her and her soon to be husband! Just wishing it was a bit cooler and bit less of a holiday weekend.
For those of you in the U.S. enjoy your long, Labor Day weekend. Everyone else, I wish you a happy weekend as well and time to get at least a bit of sewing in.
As always, don't hesitate to reach out with ideas of what you'd like to see more of here at Blooming Poppies and comments on what you're enjoying so far.
